HISTORY OF NITROGEN: In the past, scientists had different opinions about this gas. For example, some scientists think it was brunt air because no combination occur in the presence of this element. Some believe it is very toxic and has no life because the environment fil...

HALOGEN FAMILY: THE MOST REACTIVE FAMILY OF THE PERIODIC TABLE

HALOGEN FAMILY: THE MOST REACTIVE FAMILY OF THE PERIODIC TABLE

    Introduction:

The halogen family contains fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine. These elements are know for their reactiveness. This family contains many reactive elements known including fluorine which is one of the most reactive non-metals in the periodic table.
We are starting to talk about this family and its unique properties which blow your mind.
     So, let's start:

    Fluorine:

Fluorine is a very reactive non-metal. It is because of the fact that it has higher charged nuclei which are not shielded by electrons. That is why it attracts other element's electrons and thus forms compounds with them.

    Properties of fluorine:

There are the following properties of fluorine:
    1. Fluorine as discussed earlier is extremely electronegative which means it attracts electrons of other elements.
    2. Fluorine is a highly reactive element.
    3. Fluorine is very toxic and causes many disorders in the bodies of animals.

    Uses and Applications of Fluorine:

These are the main uses and applications of fluorine:
    1. Uses in the production of fluorine polymers which has many uses. The most famous example is Teflon.
    2. Uses in the production of fluorocarbons which are heavily used as refrigerants.
    3. Uses in the Pharmaceutical industries to form medicines able to treat many diseases.

    Chlorine:

Chlorine is a very reactive element and extremely toxic known for its strong oxidizing agent. It is most used in bleaching powder.

    Properties of Chlorine:

There are the following properties of Chlorine:
    1. Chlorine is a very reactive and toxic element.
    2. Chlorine is a very good oxidizing agent because of its ability to take electrons of another element very fast.
    3. Chlorine dissolves in water and forms an acidic solution known as "hydrochloric acid".

    Uses and Application of Chlorine:

There are uses and applications of chlorine:
    1. In the production of polymer the most famous one is PVC (Polyvinyl chloride).
    2. Chlorine is used in the production of bleaching agents which is used for whitening clothes and other things.
    3. In the production of many different compounds like chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, and vinyl chloride etc.,

    Bromine:

Bromine is the only non-metal element which exists in its liquid state at room temperature and its uses and application are incredible.

    Properties of Bromine:

These are the following properties of bromine:
    1. Bromine is a highly toxic element. Contamination with bromine causes skin irritation and several such problems.
    2. Bromine is soluble in organic solvents like carbon tetrachloride, and other such organic solvent. But bromine is slightly dissolved in water.
    3. As a member of the halogen family bromine is a highly reactive element.

    Uses and Application of Bromine:

These are the following uses and applications of bromine:
    1. Bromine is used as a flame-retardant agent which means it is added to materials to make them flame resistant.
    2. Bromine itself is very toxic but its organic compounds are useful in pharmaceutical industries because of their useful and effective operations.
    3. As bromine is very toxic that why useful to kill pests and behave as a pesticide.

    Iodine:

Iodine is an element that is extremely important for life and its deficiency in the body causes a disease known as goiter.

    Properties of Iodine:

There are the following properties of Iodine:

    1. Iodine is sparingly soluble in water but soluble well organic solvents like carbon tetrachloride etc.,
    2. At room temperature iodine is a shiny dark purple solid with metallic luster.
    3. Iodine has a distinctive, pungent odor.

    Uses and Application of Iodine:

There are the following uses and applications:
    1. Uses in the pharmaceutical industry to cure several diseases.
    2. Uses in the production of dyes and other such industries.
    3. Radioactive iodine is used in the treatment of cancer and medical imaging.

    Astatine:

Astatine is an element that is radioactive in nature. Astatine is a synthesis element which means it is synthesized by human beings.

    Properties of Astatine:

As of its radioactive nature and its rareness. Some properties are shown by astatine:
    1. Astatine is radioactive in nature.
    2. As a member of the halogen family it is very reactive.
    3. Astatine is a highly toxic element.

    Uses and Application of Astatine:

As for its radioactive nature, its uses are limited.

    Conclusion:

The halogen family is one of the unique families in the periodic table. Which shows its unique properties and makes them suitable for specific applications.

BOSONS: AND ITS SECRET POWER IN NATURE

BOSONS: AND ITS SECRET POWER IN NATURE  Introduction: Nuclear and particle physics, one of the most powerful branches of physics, deals with nuclear and particles present in atoms. In Nuclear and particle physics, they are the "Standard model of particle physics". In the standard model of particle physics, two divisions divide the particle into two categories known as "Bosons and fermions" . Fermions: Fermions are the particles that are responsible for the formation of all the ordinary matter in this universe. We discuss this in detail in the previous article. Fermions Bosons: Bosons are particles that are responsible for all the basic forces in this universe. Forces are of multiple types but for all the forces we humans know scientists select four forces and say that there are "Basic forces of universe". These are as follows: 1. Weak nuclear force 2. Strong nuclear force 3. Gravitational force 4. Electromagnetic force Particles of that force: These forc...

Quantum field theory: The most beautiful theory

Quantum field theory: The most beautiful theory  Quantum field theory is a combination of quantum theory and field theory. It provides help in combining quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, and special relativity. Nature loves beauty. Like nature, science is also like a beautiful theory. The theory which gives answers to all the questions of nature. In the beginning, classical mechanics was the most beautiful theory because it could answer all phenomena of nature accurately. But as our technology improves we can deep dive into matter and energy. The logic of classical mechanics becomes unvaried and that is why we need another theory that can explain all the phenomena at the quantum level. Quantum mechanics was able to resolve all the questions of the quantum world and then now become the most beautiful theory of science. It explains many phenomena like  Quantum entanglement , quantum tunneling, and other such strange phenomena. But quantum mechanics also won't be able to ex...

Wave particles duality: History of Light

Wave particle duality: History of Light Light is a wave. Oh! sorry particle. Oh! sorry sorry both. Light is a particle or wave you decide after reading this article and leaving your answer in the comment after reading this article. Light According to Newton: Newton which is very famous in classical mechanics. Classic mechanics without Newton is not possible. Imagine the equations of motion and laws of motion which are very useful to describe any motion of a machine or for satellites. Our current technology is based on the phenomena of classical mechanics. And this can't be ignored how useful classical mechanics are in our daily lives. Newton thought that light is a particle to prove this Newton gave his corpuscles theory. According to Newton's corpuscles theory, "light is a particle called corpuscles". This theory is instrumental in describing most of the phenomena of light. But in many cases it fails, for example, to describe phenomena such as interference and polar...
