NITROGEN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK

NITROGEN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK INTRODUCTION: In this article, we discuss nitrogen its important properties, and some incidents that happened in the past with people and instruments that deal with nitrogen. So, let's start: LIQUID NITROGEN INCIDENT THAT KILLED THREE TECHNICIAN OF NASA: The First space shuttle mission was named STS-1, the first orbital mission of NASA. This mission is uniquely described in this article due to the incident in which three technicians died due to inhalation of excess nitrogen of nitrogen. IMPORTANCE OF NITROGEN: Nitrogen is a crucial element in the periodic table due to many important properties. Nitrogen is a non-toxic & colorless gas that occupies 78% of the atmosphere. HISTORY OF NITROGEN: In the past, scientists had different opinions about this gas. For example, some scientists think it was brunt air because no combination occur in the presence of this element. Some believe it is very toxic and has no life because the environment fil...

    HYDRIDES OF ALKALI METALS

    HYDRIDES OF ALKALI METALS:

    Introduction:

Well, in our previous articles, we talked about Alkali Metals now we talk about its compounds which are their hydrides. Hydrides are the type of binary compound of hydrogen with some other elements for example, in this case, we are talking about Hydrides of Alkali Metal.

    Properties of Alkali Metal Hydrides:

Some Common Properties of Alkali Metal Hydrides:

    1. Formation of Alkali Metal Hydrides:

The formation of alkali metal hydrides occurs by a direct reaction between alkali metal and hydrogen. But need temperatures which are given below:

    LiH           700-800 degrees Celsius

    NaH           200-400 degrees Celsius

    KH             300-500 degrees Celsius

    RuH            400-600 degrees Celsius

    CsH           500-700 degrees Celsius

Well, you do not need to learn the temperature at which the reaction starts occurring. There is a pattern except for LiH all others have some unique pattern. For example, NaH needs 200-400 degrees Celsius, and KH needs 300 (100+) - 500 (100+) degree Celsius. All others except LiH follow the same pattern.

    2. Formation of Ionic bond:

There is a property that is common in all alkali metal hydrides which is the formation of ionic bonds. These compounds form ionic bonds and show characteristics which is common in ionic bonds strong ness, high melting and boiling point, and other such properties that are common in ionic compounds.

    3. Physical State:

All the alkali metal hydrides exist in a solid state at room temperature and pressure.

    4. Solubility:

Alkali metal hydrides are insoluble in non-polar solvents but soluble in water due to the process of hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is the reaction in which water is used for breaking big molecules into smaller ones.

    5. Reactivity:

All the alkali metal hydrides are very highly reactive.

Uses and Applications of Alkali Metal Hydrides:

    1. We all know the fuel of the future is hydrogen but its storage is a major problem. Here Alkali metal hydrides especially LiH are useful.

    2. These compounds are very important reduction agents.

    3. These alkali metal hydrides are useful as neutron shields and neutron absorbers (especially LiH).

    4. Alkali Metal Hydrides are useful drying agents.

    5. As you notice all the alkali metal hydrides are strong bases and that why useful in organic reactions in which an acid-base reaction is required.

    Conclusion:

All the compounds are unique all their uses are also very specific. I think to wonder about that the knowledge of the periodic table is so amazing. These are five compounds that we know about in great depth with minimum work.

That's all about the Hydrides of Alkali Metal. I hope you like it.

Boron: All Secret of Boron Element in Detail

Man Taking Boron Supplement "Boron Boost: Unveiling the Benefits of this Essential Mineral for Health and Wellness" Boron is an element of much importance in many industries including medicines and technology industries. Boron has the atomic number 5 and its mass number is 10.811u it has many uses in supplements, in clearing industries, and its many technological industries. Minerals of Boron: Boron has approximately 230 minerals from which boron is extracted. These minerals include kernite, tincalconite, probertite, ulexite, colemanite, meyerhofferite, inyoite, pandermite, inderite, hydroboracite, datolite, sassolite, and many more I hope I explain these minerals in detail in other article. History of Boron: In ancient times boron was used by China in the form of sodium tetraborate which was white in color but not pure form. It was first isolated by Joseph-Louis, Gay-Lussac, and Louis-Jaques, French chemists, and independently by Sir Humphry Davy, an English chemist, in 1808...

Aluminium: An Element that changes the world Completely

Aluminum: An Element That Changes the World Completely Aluminium uses in aerospce industry Aluminum is a very lightweight metal. Alloy is very precise before 18 century it was more expensive than gold and silver. Its high price is due to its extraction cost from clay. In clay, it forms a very strong bond with oxygen that why it requires very high energy. Aluminum word derived from the Latin word "Alumen" which means "Bitter salt". Aluminium was discovered by Danish physicist " Hans Christian Orsted" in 1825. It has a silvery-white appearance. What is Aluminium? Aluminum is a very lightweight metal in the periodic table. It is the 13th element in the periodic table and also a very useful element. Where Aluminium mined?  Aluminum minerals include "Boehmite, Diaspore, Gibbsite, Cupalite, and steinhardtite, etc.," There are over 270 different types of aluminum minerals from which aluminum is extracted. Australia and China have huge resources for al...
